The Algarve

The Algarve has an excellent infrastructure, is easily accessible and is very popular with tourists. In the summer of 2023, the number of tourists increased again compared to previous years, there were even more visitors than in the pre-Covid year 2019. ,

In the spring and autumn, the Algarve is popular with many golfers, the region has the highest "golf density" of the world. All other kinds of sports are possible, there are waterparks, a zoo, retail parks with international and Portuguese shops, and in a few hours drive you are in Lisbon or Seville, two of the most popular cities of Southern Europe. The airport of Faro is very modern and has, via price fighters like Ryanair and Easy Jet, fast and cheap connections with many cities throughout Europe. The international airport in Lisbon, about 300 kilometers from Faro, has direct connections with many cities in North America, Asia, Africa and Brazil.

The climate is the best of Europe, they call the Algarve "the Florida of Europe".

More than 300 days of sun, in summer almost always a little sea breeze so it will never be too hot, moderate winters with some rain, essential for the nature and the water supplies, perfect spring and autumn.

The Algarve also has many things to do for young and old.

Besides the beautiful beaches and pittoresk villages, there are waterparks, shopping malls, golfcourses (the most of Europe), all kinds of watersport like surfing and diving, and, of course, fantastic food, from local lunch cafes where you can have a complete lunch for € 12,- to the most exclusive Michelin Star restaurant.

Overall the costs of living in Portugal are much lower than Northern Europe and America. The private healthcare is very good at reasonable prices compared to North America. Most people in the Algarve speak English, so communication is easy. Also, Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world.
